Gymnopilus aeruginosus - Magic Truffles

Gymnopilus aeruginosus and where they grow!

Gymnopilus aeruginosus is one of many species in the genus Gymnopilus. It is an edible mushroom commonly found in wood-chip mulch beds, and can also be seen on decaying logs and stumps in deciduous or coniferous forests. This species has a distinct blue/green cap, gills that are attached to the stem, and a distinct earthy smell. It is commonly known as the Magic Truffle, due to its psychoactive effects when ingested.

People have reported feeling mild hallucinations and increased sense of well-being after consuming this mushroom. Gymnopilus aeruginosus can be consumed fresh or dried, but may cause intense vomiting if taken in large doses or when mixed with alcohol. It is important to note that this mushroom should not be consumed in large doses, and that consuming it in any form can be potentially dangerous. As with any other consumption of mushrooms, it is recommended to consult a medical professional before attempting to ingest Gymnopilus aeruginosus.

Given its psychoactive effects, Gymnopilus aeruginosus is not recommended for those with a history of mental health issues, or anyone under the age of 18. Furthermore, it is important to research and become familiar with all the effects this mushroom can have before consuming it. Lastly, due to its potentially dangerous effects, Gymnopilus aeruginosus should not be harvested from the wild unless you are absolutely certain of its identity. It is always best to purchase this mushroom from a reputable source in order to ensure safety and quality.

In addition to its psychoactive effects, Gymnopilus aeruginosus has long been used medicinally as an anti-inflammatory, expectorant, and pain reliever. Studies have found that it has powerful antioxidant properties, making it a popular choice for people looking to boost their overall health.
